We continue our journey along The Essex Way, 96 miles of glorious Essex from Epping Forest to Harwich. Our journey today follows the River Colne from Chappel & Wakes Colne though Fordham Hall Estate where otters frequent the river banks and skylarks populate the skies. It is always worth keeping an eye out for cricket bats in the trees overhead. Continuing towards West Bergholt and Boxted we are rewarded with views of the Stour Valley before reaching Boxted Cross.
I cannot promise mud, although it remains a strong possibility, however I can promise impressive views worthy of some of England's greatest artists.
Please bring a picnic lunch.
The finish time is an estimate and dependent upon the size and pace of the group, the number of breaks taken and the weather conditions on the day. The pace will be a steady 2.5 miles per hour minimum as we have a bus to catch and on Saturdays the bus is 2 hourly (in a village without a pub!).
