Meeting Point - Stainer Street Entrance to London Bridge Railway station from Tooley Street - (looking across to Hayes Galleria).
This urban hike from London Bridge to Greenwich follows the Thames Path for what is a classic trail but for a loop via Stave Hill followed by a second loop along the Waterlink Way into Lewisham and up to Blackheath and Point Hill to descend into Greenwich.
From London Bridge we pass the historic warship HMS Belfast with great views of Tower Bridge. Further along is Southwark Cathedral.
The route continue passing through areas rich in Maritime, Dickensian and local history:
Dr Salter and Family Statues.
Rotherhithe and the Mayflower Pub with connection to the Pilgrim Fathers.
- The Brunel Museum.
- Stave Hill
- Deptford Strand - where nearby where Sir Francis Drake was knighted.
- St. Nicholas Church, Deptford - in which Playwright Geoffrey Chaucer is interred.
The hike then goes inland through Brook Mill Park and into Lewisham passing the DLR Station before ascending to Blackheath and onto Point Hill for spectular views across London with the Wembley Arch visible on a clear day. From here we descend into Greenwich where the walk ends.
