This is a pleasant walk moving between the River Lee and the Lee Navigation as we wend our way through the Lee Valley Country Park. It is predominantly along riverside paths and so will be relatively straightforward walking.
There will be an opportunity to stop at the Wildlife Discovery Centre near to Waltham Abbey in the morning and lunch will be outside St Augustine's Church in Broxbourne.
There's a nice pub, The Jolly Fisherman, in Stanstead Abbots (adjoining St Margarets) for those who fancy a drink afterwards.
Exit Points: The walk passes Broxbourne Station shortly after lunch and then Rye House station a little while afterwards
Travel: Take the 09.38 from London Liverpool Street (09.53 Tottenham Hale), arriving at Waltham Cross at 10.04. There are two trains an hour back from St Margarets into London. Buy a return to St Margarets.
The finishing time of 4pm is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
