A circular walk starting by the steps entrance to Seaton Hole Beach.
This walk has two short and one longish uphill climb, but it is spectacularly rewarding with views over to Beer’s Head limestone cliffs, pebble beach and over Seaton Bay; later the view from the height of Seaton Down enables taking in a panoramic expanse of the Axe Valley and the Seaton Wetlands as far as Axmouth Harbour!
We take the SW Coast Path to Beer’s Jubilee Park (has toilets), ascend to Big Rock View Point where we enjoy coffee sitting on an old log provided, make our way towards Gatcombe Farm by gravel track, uphill steep follows through fields to Seaton Down keeping the white Water Tower in prospect, we lunch taking in the view of the Axe. Descent through scrub footpaths is easy to Bunt’s Lane returning to Seaton Hole where there is a café and toilets. It’s worth taking the steps down to the beach noting the recent efforts to save the cliff from erosion!
It is possible to get to Seaton Hole by bus and walk a shortish distance from Seaton on the 9A from the Exeter Bus Station, taking 1.5 hours!
If you would like to join this walk, please notify the leaders, preferably by email, so that they can inform you of any late changes to arrangements.
