The walk which will start by passing the Walkham and Poldice mines, the Wheel Bertha Mine, before a climb through Sticklepath (means ‘steep path’) Wood onto the ridge, where we take tracks which will lead us past Bucktor, the remains of the Virtuous Lady Mine, before we descend to the stunningly beautiful Double Waters where the Rivers Tavy and Walkham meet. We will then pass near Buckator, on riverside paths, passing a fine mine chimney, and will see the examples of the interesting geology, the dikes of intruded magma, which form shallow waterfalls in the river bed on our return route.
Please note 10.00am start time.
We will probably visit a pub/café after the walk.
Please book with John Howell for the walk and please state if interested in food after the walk.
