We will catch Eurostar from London St Pancras to Lille Europe. We will do a walk around the City Centre and Old Town visiting the Grand Place , Cathedrale Notre Dame de la Treille, the Belfry at the Hotel de Ville and the Citadelle Vauban. This should give you your bearings as Lille is a small town and easy to explore
We will then break and you will be free to do whatever you want in the afternoon and catch whatever train back to London
If you want to join me I will be having lunch at an estaminet or brasserie and then I have booked tickets for the Musee La Piscine - https://www.roubaix-lapiscine.com/en/home/ . It is a 30 – 40 minute journey by metro from the City Centre.
The alternative museums are
1. the Palais des Beaux Arts De Lille- One of France's premier art museums, second only in size in France to the Louvre, featuring masterpieces by artists like Goya, Monet, and Raphael
2. Musée de l’Hospice Comtesse- a beautifully preserved former medieval hospital in Old Lille, showcasing Flemish art, local history, and everyday life within a charming 13th to 18th-century setting.
3. Maison Natale de Charles de Gaulle - the birthplace of Charles de Gaulle, France's renowned leader, to explore exhibits detailing his early life and legacy
Or you are free to do whatever you want in the afternoon.
If time allows we will stop for dinner before catching the train back to London
