Lovely watery scenery along the Itchen river and returning via the historic city centre including the cathedral and college. One climb in the morning up St Catherine's hill and a view.
Train: Waterloo 9.05, Clapham Junction 0912, arrive Winchester 1004.
Lunch: Late picnic lunch in churchyard. A pub about 1 km further along for drinks and loos. Suggest bringing a snack for elevenses.
Toilet: Winchester station. Use loos before exiting.
Also advise avoiding shorts because some paths are overgrown. Leader may travel the day before and meet walkers at the station. Dropout point at Shawford train station after about 7 miles.
