Overview

We start with a stroll around the Woodberry Wetlands, an 11-hectare nature reserve in Hackney, featuring reed-fringed ponds and boardwalks. The wetlands are a haven for birds (hence only guide dogs allowed). We make our way to the Walthamstow Marshes along the Capital Ring, walking through Clissold Park, Abney Park Cemetery (one of the "Magnificent Seven") and Springfield park. We will stop at the Coppermill for lunch, an historic 19th century brick watermill, where there are toilets and a cafe, but please bring a packed lunch. We pass through the reservoirs to join the Lea Valley Walk, littered with boats and barges.
