The canal was the first purpose-built freight link from Birmingham to London, before newer (and noisier) railways and roads led to its decline. An easy flat walk along the towpath, ending at Little Venice and Paddington basin. Toilets at start and end of walk, and a stop is possible en route at Sainsbury's Ladbroke Grove.
Lunch: at the end of the walk - suggest cafés and shops at Paddington.
Train: Alperton (Zone 4) is served by the Piccadilly line. Return from Paddington (Zone 1).
Please note: many factors can affect how long a walk takes and the finish time given is an estimate only.
