A brisk (3 mile an hour) paved walk taking in the old and new of the City of London and its fringes. We start at Monument Underground Station and first head east seeking out the old and forgotten - Roman ruins, peaceful churchyards and docksides - and a good stretch of the north side of the Thames, heading west, before we head back to have a picnic lunch in the warmth of the Barbican arts complex.
Please bring a picnic lunch although there may be time to pick up something light there, as well as hot drinks!
After lunch we head north through Clerkenwell and Islington before ending at Highbury & Islington station.
Numerous exit points - this is a flexible walk with plenty of public transport options, so you can do as much as you like.
