We pick up the walk at Carshalton Beeches station. The start is mainly urban until Banstead wood and onwards to Kingswood, continuing through urban surroundings. The walk then continues along footpaths, bridleways and some road walking into more rural surroundings to Box Hill.
The second half of the walk is undulating with some steep ascents and descents, ending with the steep downhill path (with steps) from the top of Box Hill down to the Stepping Stones.
You may wish to bring walking poles if you usually use them.
There will be mud and suitable walking shoes/boots should be worn as some of the paths may be slippery if it is wet.
There is only one toilet on the walk, and the toilets may not be open at Carshalton Beeches station.
Please bring liquids, snacks and a pack lunch as we will not be stopping at any shops or cafes.
Exit point is Kingswood Station, approximately half way through the walk, trains 11 minutes past the hour to London Bridge with one change at Purley.
The walk will be a brisk pace 2-3 miles per hour due to the length of the walk and daylight hours.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
