A circular walk in the Chilterns from Wendover. We initially walk through the town and join the Ridgway for a short time, passing St Mary’s church. We continue through Barn Wood and then join the Aylesbury Ring through Wendover Woods.
Lunch will be at the Wendover Woods, café where you will be able to buy drinks and snacks, but please bring a packed lunch as there won’t be enough time to purchase and eat a meal. There are picnic benches where you can eat your own food and toilets at the café.
After lunch we continue through Wendover Woods and then join the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal. Known locally as the Wendover canal it was built in 1794 and links Wendover, to the Grand Union Canal at Bulbourne, it is now a nature reserve.
The final stage of the walk is through Wendover, where there are a number of cafés and pubs on the way to the railway station.
The walk is undulating, none of the assents or descents are challenging. Parts of the walk can be muddy after rain.
