Join us for a jolly ramble from Godalming to Worplesdon, the first in a series of walks making up the Fox Way which connects pretty villages around Guildford. The walk will be brisk (2.5-3 miles/hour), is mostly gently undulating - and may be muddy in parts.
From Godalming station, we cross the Wey valley and pass through the villages of Shackleford and Puttenham before crossing the Hog's Back and the majesty of the A31. From here we wind our way through a mix of farmland, woodland and open heath to reach the village of Worplesdon, and then continue to reach the station from where return trains to London depart hourly.
We will stop for lunch about half way along the walk - please bring a packed lunch.
At the end of the walk, I'm afraid there is no pub, but rest assured that the other two sections of the Fox Way do end with pub options.
Exit points: Wanborough station after about 6-7 miles.
Travel: Take the 08:55 train from London Waterloo, calling additionally at Clapham Junction at 09:05, and arriving at Godalming at 10:11.
On the return journey, direct trains depart from Worplesdon at xx06 - we should catch the 16:06 or 17:06.
You are recommended to buy a return ticket to Godalming.
No booking required.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
