Walking part of the Capital Ring (sections 8 and 9) we follow the Grand Union Canal towpath, the River Brent and a series of parks, woodland and streetscapes. Showcasing the work of Ealing Wildlife Group we will pass the peregrines nesting box, harvest mice release sites and go through the Ealing Beaver Project, climbing Horsenden Hill with views across London, before going to Greenford Underground Station.
There are public toilets at Brent Lodge Park and Horsenden Farm and in the café at Pear Tree Park.
Bring a packed lunch – we will eat in Perivale Park, but there will be an opportunity to buy a drink/ ice cream at a local café if you wish.
There are options to exit early at Hanwell Rail Station (Elizabeth Line).
We will spend 30-60 mins in the beaver enclosure - depending on questions
As they are crepuscular/ nocturnal, you won’t see beavers themselves, but you will see plenty of evidence of their activity and changes to the landscape.
See weblinks for Peregrine falcon webcam and BBC Wild London featuring David Attenborough at several of these sites.
