Join us for this 11-mile walk along the Kent coast as we hope to catch some autumn sunshine. The walk is paved for the most part as we walk the sea defence walls and cliff top footpaths on the furthest eastern tip of the Kent coast where the sea will be an almost contsant companion along the route.
The artist JMW Turner – a regular visitor to Margate – declared that “the skies over Thanet are the loveliest in all Europe” and Charles Dickens took inspiration for his novel David Copperfield from his time in Broadstairs.
We will pass many beaches, bays and beach huts - many creatively decorated - along the way and in the afternoon will ascend above the bays for some stunning views before descending into Broadstairs with its harbour and welcoming pubs, restaurants and fish & chip shops!
We will stop for lunch – after 5 miles - at Margate but please bring a packed lunch as although there are shops, cafes, pubs and public toilets we won’t be able to stop for too long.
Exit point after 5 miles at Margate.
