Starting in the car park at Mount Grace Priory, we ascend through Mount Grace Wood, joining the Cleveland Way before reaching the highest point of the walk. The overall ascent from the car park to this point is 785ft, at an average slope of 8%. We then descend to Cod Beck Reservoir and walk along the eastern side to the Sheep Wash, walking back though the woods along Green Lane and make our way to Chequers, and descend to Oak Dale. Here we pick up the Cleveland Way again to Osmotherley, and return to Mount Grace passing Westlands Farm. Generally good paths, some stiles to be negotiated, and some muddy sections, weather dependent of course. Sticks would probably be advisable as some sections may be slippery if wet.

There is a charge of £3.50 for parking, free to English Heritage members - but you will need to display an English Heritage sticker on your car windscreen. The payment meter at the car park can currently only accept cash payments, so please do remember to bring sufficient change with you.
The priory itself doesn't open until 10am, but the car park should be open from around 9am. We are starting a little earlier than usual at 09:45 so that we can get back in plenty of time for the cafe, which closes at 15:30.
Refreshments afterwards in the cafe - please contact the walk leader after booking if you would like a cream tea reserving (£6.95 at the time of writing).
