Overview

From Moor Gate northwards over Hawnby Moor, then west using a rough moorland path to the edge of Hazel Head Wood. Through the wood, then on the northern side of the valley to Birk Wood Farm along an easy, mostly grassy path with good views , turning north again to Hill End Farm. We then turn south to walk along the other side of the valley to Brewster Hill and Harker Gates. Crossing the River Rye and up to the flank of Hawnby Hill at Hill End House and return to Moor Gate. There are a number of stiles, all in good repair. There are 4 or 5 fairly stiff uphill sections, and several areas of boggy ground. Seven footbridges and a couple of streams to cross.

Post walk refreshments at The Owl, Hawnby.  Please let me know as soon as possible after booking whether you will be coming for refreshments and if you want a scone ordering.
