Beginning in Teynham we set off through fields for a mile before reaching the hamlet of Conyer when we join the Saxon Shore Way with The Swale - the body of water and mudflats separating the Isle of Sheppey from mainland Kent - to our left and salt marshes and fields to our right.
As the walk progresses towards the widening Whitstable Bay be prepared for the bracing breeze (or stronger wind) heading up from the North Sea – you might want an extra layer, hat and gloves in reserve.
As the path heads inland we follow Oare Creek with its array of moored boats before reaching the historic market town of Faversham with its many pubs cafes & shops.
Although the walk is on the flat the paths are frequently uneven or muddy so I advise walking boots (or sturdy walking shoes as a minimum) and bring your walking poles if you use them.
We will stop to eat our packed lunches halfway through the walk sitting on the bank overlooking The Swale.
There are no public toilets at Teynham station or along the route of the walk so please use the toilets on the train.
No exit points.
