Walking in Leicestershire & Rutland
The eight groups that comprise the Leicestershire and Rutland area offer a wide range and interesting variety of walks mainly within, but also without, the rolling countryside of our two counties.
Our groups offer walks on most days of the week, and they vary in length and difficulty to be able to offer something for both experienced walkers who are seeking a challenge, and those just starting out.
All our group walks are available to all regardless of where you live. We are a partner with other organisations in the area, and currently we are working closely with the Charnwood Forest Regional Park.

In addition to being assured of a friendly welcome by each of the groups in our area, the area also organises a walk each year and holds an annual quiz. Both give opportunities for members of different groups to get together, compare notes and ideas, and have fun!
We offer very popular free map reading and navigation courses through a mixture of zoom and field work and we publish news in our periodic members' newsletter 'Write of Way'.
Our website is packed with interesting local information and advice including current footpath closures, additions and diversion which affect us, and details of a range of self-guided walks in various parts of the counties for you to download and follow alone or with friends.
