We start by heading south through Brompton cemetery before meandering through some very fine real estate on the way to Holland Park, where there is a toilet stop and a caffeine opportunity. From there we continue through Kensington to Kensington Gardens where we stop for lunch. There are toilets and a cafe here but I advise a packed lunch.
A short cut through Paddington Station takes us to Paddington Basin where we pick up the Grand union canal. We follow the canal all the way to Scrubs Lane which we have to follow for a particularly unpleasant 1/4 mile before reaching the back gate of St Mary's cemetery. We pass through St Mary's before arriving at the west end of Kensal Green cemetery where we head eastwards to exit on the Harrow Road. From here it is a short way to Queens Park which we cross and exit at the finish point of Brondesbury Park station (Mildmay line).
The walk is mainly on level ground apart from a steep but small humped back bridge at Ladbroke Grove. We will be going at a moderately brisk pace of approx 2.5 mph and there should not be too much mud.
Travel: Walk starts at West Brompton Underground Station (Zone 2) on the District Line.Brondesbury Park station (Mildmay line)
No booking required.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on several factors such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
