A short circular afternoon walk exploring three forests accessible from Three Bridges station in Sussex. Please have lunch beforehand or on the journey down as we will not be having any prolonged breaks during the walk which we should be able to complete within 3 hours.
Shortly after escaping the busy road outside the station, we pick up the Worth Way, a disused railway line. If followed in it's entirety this leads to East Grinstead, but we will turn off after a couple of miles to enter Worth Lodge Forest where a wide stony track rises gently though the woodland. We will then have to walk for 300 metres along a fast road which has a limited verge so single file will have to be maintained until we reach another bridlepath which eventually takes us to Worth Forest.
A pleasant path winds down through the woods before crossing the railway to enter Tailgate Forest. We take a tree lined track through a golf course, pass through a modern housing estate then rejoin the Worth Way and return to Three Bridges. The Snooty Fox pub is just opposite the station for possible post walk refreshments.
No booking required.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will depend on a number of factors including the weather, the speed the group walks at and the number of breaks taken.
