After walking out through historic Rochester, we rejoin the North Downs Way with great views of the Medway, we go up to Blue Bell Hill then onto Kit’s Coty (Neolithic Burial site) for lunch ( no facilities so please bring a packed lunch). Then onto Roxley Warren Nature Reserve, Detling and then climb up to more great views as we approach Thurnham Castle, after which we arrive at the pretty village of Hollingbourne.
From Hollingbourne, there is a rail replacement service (I.e. bus) to Maidstone East or Ashford International for connecting trains back to London.
Travel
Take the 8.40 from London Victoria arriving Rochester 9.20
Note option to combine with Stage 7 on 1st July 2023 and have an overnight stay in Rochester (which you would need to organise yourself). I would suggest you bring as little as possible as there are lots of hills to enjoy and you might enjoy them less with a heavy pack!
No booking required.
Drop-out points: none.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
