Overview

Tracking The Ravensbourne is a full day’s walk form the source of the river to its estuary with the Thames in Greenwich

We start at Keston Ponds and meander our way with the contour of the river through Padmall Wood and other woods to Hayes Street Farm Trout Fishery. We then go through Scrogginhall Wood with the path next to the river to emerge into Norman Park at which point the river enters a culvert. At this point the high rise buildings of Bromley Town Centre are visible. We pass Bromley Town Football Club for a short spell of road walking followed by an urban footpath which takes us to Bromley Town Centre for our lunch stop. There are many food outlets in Bromley however you may prefer  to bring a packed lunch.

Following lunch we follow the river trail southwest of the town centre to Shortlands and via Ravensbourne Greenway (Beckenham Place Park) to connect with the Waterlink Way to Ladywell Fields. The remainder of the trail follows the Waterlink Way to Lewisham and Deptford to end at the Ravensbourne estuary in Greenwich. You may have done sections of the Ravensbourne from Hayes or along the Waterlink Way however this is an opportunity to follow it in its entirety. A first for me and one to tick off for you if you have not already done so. Alternatively, you can follow the sections which you may not have done and thereafter choose to drop out. There are plenty of dropout points along the way - all after lunch at  Bromley South,  Shortlands, Ravensbourne, Beckenham Hill, Catford, Ladywell, Lewisham and Deptford.

Some paths may be muddy.
