Join me for a shorter Sunday walk across Wanstead Flats and through Wanstead Park to view the Repton Oak, enjoy the wide variety of bird life and to experience the beauty of the renowned bluebell woods before perhaps partaking in a late lunch in one of Wanstead's many cafes, pubs or restaurants located on the High Street.
This is a leisurely Sunday walk across grass flats and on established paths through a park. Whilst there may be some muddy patches these are easily skirted and trainers/casual footwear are suitable.
No booking required for the walk, however I recommend making a booking if you wish to eat lunch following the walk (see suggestions below).
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken
Travel
TFL Central Line to Leytonstone Station arriving to start walking at 11am and returning from Wanstead Station. There are also numerous bus options available. We will meet at the entrance to the station outside the cafe.
There is a tea hut located within Wanstead Park where we shall have a short stop to buy drinks. The toilets in Wanstead Park are not always available. There are toilets available in Wanstead at cafes, pubs and restaurants.
It would be wise to consider booking a table if you are hoping to eat lunch. All of the below have been subjected to review by myself and are all recommended. There are also numerous cafes along High Street which serve light meals, coffee and cakes for those looking for lighter options.
