Welcome to Capital Walkers, the friendly London Ramblers group for people aged 40+. We walk every weekend and usually at least once during the week.
A moderately paced and undulating walk seeking out some lovely Autumn colours around the open spaces of Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood and their surroundings. The walk will be on a mix of pavements and paths, some of which may be muddy in parts.
The walk will start at Golders Green Underground Station (Northern Line) from where we will work our way across Hampstead Garden Suburb to Highgate Wood to use the facilities of the cafe in the woods to enjoy a picnic or grab a snack and hot drink, before looping through Highgate and across the Heath to Belsize Park Underground Station.
There will be drop out points at Highgate Station (Northern Line) and Gospel Oak and Hampstead Heath (Overground) Stations.
There are toilets at Golders Green Station and others en route.
Travel: Make your way to Golders Green Underground Station which is in Zone 3 on the Northern Line, Edgware branch. Various bus routes also pass by the start.
No booking required.
The finishing time is an estimate only as the route has a number of options and is largely dependent on the speed of the group. The walk distance is also only a guide.
